NHS Post-Operative Cataract Consultations

Our optometrists are qualified to perform your post-operative cataract consultation if your surgery was carried out by CHEC (Community Health Eye Care) or SpaMedica through the NHS. The consultation is paid for by the NHS and you do not need to be a registered patient at Harpenden Eye Centre to book your post-operative consultation with us.

Your surgeon will advise when your should book this consultation, though it is typically recommended that you wait 4-6 weeks after your surgery has been performed. 

Our optometrists will conduct a full and thorough assessment of the health of your eye/s following your surgery and will also ascertain your new prescription. Following this consultation, providing the health assessment is satisfactory, the optometrist can discharge you from the service. They can also refer you for cataract surgery for your other eye, if required.
